Two New Fins, Two New Disasters

It's been a big Wednesday here at HotelShark.com, with two new fins -- both in the midwest -- added: The Knickerbocker on the Lake, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and the Drury Plaza Hotel in St. Louis,
Missouri. There was also tamer praise for the Point Arena Lighthouse -- yes, you can sleep there -- in Point Arena, California; America's Best Value Inn in Hot Springs, Arkansas; the Sofitel Budapest in Budapest, Hungary; the Water Tower Inn at Saint Louis University in St Louis, Missouri; the BridgePointe Hotel & Marina in New Bern, North Carolina; and the Ramada Inn in Thibodaux, Louisiana, west of New Orleans. Getting hit with the complaint stick is The Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, Illinois and the Best Western in Albion,
Michigan. Ouch!

Big Ups in Umbria

A new fin goes out to the Palazzo Grande in the Umbria section of Italy, while Pagosa Springs, Colorado's Oak Ridge Lodge shows why it recently lost it's Best Western affiliation.

Columbus East Indeed

Someone loves the Country Inn & Suites in Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a town that the marketing department affectionately refers to as "Columbus East."

Folks seem to be saying good things about the old Fairmont in San Francisco, California. Plus, there seem to be some plusses at the new CityFlats Hotel in Holland, Michigan and the older Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico. But we've received some stern words for the Executive Inn and Suites in Old Saybrook, Connecticut and the Hyatt Regency Suites in Palm Springs, California. But the king of the day -- and the week's only new fin -- is the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto, Canada.

One bad motel can wreck a traveler's impression of a whole chain, as evidenced by this Motel 6 in Florence,
Kentucky.

It's thumbs up for Mara West in Kenya, thumbs down for the Scenic Rivers Inn in Missouri.

Sharp words for Atlanta's Georgian Terrace Hotel.

There's new, big praise for a modest motel in California's Central Valley: Americas Best Value Inn at the Water Tree in Fresno.

There's a new fin on HotelShark.com, and it's for the Days Inn in Irving, Texas. A fin is awarded to properties that people seem to really like.

Todays most illustrative new review is of the Wickwood Inn in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Good new reviews today for, among others, the Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco and the Hotel Riu Palace Bonanza Playa on Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, Spain.

The best new reviews today, by far, are for the The Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, New Jersey; and the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas. Neither could be mistaken for an endorsement, however.

Adding new meaning to the word "limited," a review of the Ramada Limited Fort Myers in Fort Myers, Florida has just been added.

New reviews posted this morning include the Hilton Dallas Park Cities in Dallas, Texas, which folks seem to like; and the Holiday Inn in Hays, Kansas, which they don't.

Some of the areas around Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are unpleasant. We know, having grown up in Southern California. So when a young woman from St. Louis sent us a complaint about the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Hawthorne -- an LAX-area suburb -- we knew where she was coming from. Her review went up on HotelShark.com this evening.
